Application Fee

For students who register in advance online, a US$30.00 registration fee plus $3 in processing fees is required. This $33 is on top of the cost of tuition, it is not a deposit that will later be subtracted from tuition payments. The $33 is not charged immediately to your account; we process it through our office and so it may take a little while to appear as a charge on your Visa account. (Our system is unable to process MasterCard transactions, but we encourage those who don't use Visa to write and ask us about alternate ways to make a reservation--we want to welcome you too as Celas Maya students!) Registration is available online via our online enrollment form. Alternatively, aprintable version is available which can then be mailed or faxed to us.

Payment of the registration fee guarantees a space for the applicant and helps to cover the maintenance of the web page, promotion, brochures, mailings, phone calls and other general expenses. It also allows us to confirm your studies in advance and gives us time to pair you with the teacher and host family that we think will be the best match for you. The credit card payment is only for the advance registration fee; you will not be charged at all for tuition until you arrive here at the school. Students who choose not to register in advance may visit our office for registration; space is granted on an as-available basis.
 

Forms of Payment

Weekly tuition payments may be made with cash in Quetzales or in notes of $50 or $100 in US Dollars. We also accept traveler's cheques or credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club International). With regard to credit card payments, an 8% surcharge is added to credit card payments due to the bank´s processing fee.

Payment is expected on your first day of classes of the each week. We also give you the opportunity each week to reserve your spot for the next coming week. To assure your spot for the next week, we require half of the next week's tuition on Wednesday of the current week. This payment is a credit toward your next week of study.

Low Season (September through May)

With Homestay: Spanish- $185/week, Quiche- $200/week

Without Homestay: Spanish- $140/week, Quiche- $155/week

High Season (June through August)

With Homestay: Spanish- $199/ week, Quiche- $215/ week

Without Homestay: Spanish- $155/week, Quiche- $170/week

Tuition includes:

· Five hours a day, five days a week of one-on-one instruction with a 1/2 hour morning break

· Homestay with a nearby Guatemalan family including a private room for seven days a week and three meals a day (only dinner on Sundays. (more info)

· Optional participation in scheduled activities

· Access to the school library including textbooks, literature, non-fiction, and our movie collection

· One hour a day (weekdays only) of free Internet access in our Internet café

· Daily fresh coffee, tea, hot water, and mid-morning snack.
 

Language study is available without the family homestay for a savings of US$45 per week.
 

Spanish & Volunteer

- Students at Celas Maya (in Xela or online) can use the volunteer advice an extra and free service.

- Groups, universities, agencies etc. Contact Celas Maya for more information about the prices and the opportunities.

- Individuals who are interested in only doing volunteer work without having classes, and want to experience the Guatemalan culture to live with a family, are also welcome at Celas Maya.

We can arrange this all in advance for only $25.

The host family offers a private room, 3 meals a day (Monday through Saturday), dinner on Sunday, purified water at meal times and hot showers. For students who don´t have classes at Celas Maya, they can stay in the host family for only $ 60 / week. . more info
